SSAWW 2017

The Society for the Study of American Women Writers will be holding its first conference in Europe at the Université Bordeaux Montaigne from July 5th to 8th, 2017.

Keynote events include an inaugural address by Alice Kaplan who will tell us about Susan Sontag's Parisian year, a presentation by Sarah Rose Etter of her collection of stories Tongue Party, a plenary conference by Jean Marie Schultz about the impact of study-abroad programs on university students, and many more exciting events to look forward to like a song cycle for tenor, piano and violin inspired by Willa Cather's My Antonia, a showing of Nancy Kates' prize-winning documentary film "Regarding Susan Sontag" (followed by a debate with the film director herself) and a staged reading of Susan Glaspell's Fugitive's Return.
